Notes
Food Chain:
1) Sun<- Phytoplankton<-Midge<-Stonefly<-Eel
The Eel which is a tertiary consumer will eat the Stonefly which is a secondary consumer, the stonefly will eat the Midge which is a primary consumer and the Midge will eat the Phytoplankton which is the producer. The sun provides the energy for the producer which is the Phytoplankton.
Symbiosis:
Symbiosis is when two or more organisms work together and at least 1 benefit from it.An example of symbiosis is when Coral and Algae work together. In this process both organisms have benefits. The zooxanthellae from the Algae provides the green or brown color for the coral. The zooxanthellae also exchanges nutrients for sugar, in this process the Coral gets sugar and Algae gets nutrients. Coral waste(carbon dioxide, ammonia, etc.) is taken by the Algae as it helps it with photosynthesis.
Parasite and Host:
Gill Flukes and Fish
The gill fluke attaches it’s anchor to the fish and it lays eggs in the
fish.
Crustaceans: Argulus (“Fish Louse”)
A fish louse comes to a host lets say a koi fish in this example will attatch its “suckers” to the host and sucks the body fluids from said koi fish when the fish
louse is done wih its host it will lay its babies in the koi fishes body.
Decomposers interacting with environment:
Saprolegnia fungus- Saprolegnia fungus when a fish or predator dies this fungus will break it down into its bones.
Saprophytes- Saprophytes grow and decompose dead plant matter.
Earthworms- Earthworms eat dead plant matter and excrete dirt.
The transfer of Nutrients:
Piscivorous Fish eats Planktivorous Fish eats zooplankton which eats algae. The algae was eaten by the zooplankton the algae’s nutrients went into the zooplankton. Then the Planktivorous fish ate the Zooplankton transferring the nutrients from the zooplankton to the Planktivorous fish .When the Planktivorous Fish was eaten by the Piscivorous Fish the nutrients from the Planktivorous fish went into the Piscivorous fish. When the Piscivorous fish excretes it would become fertilizer for the algae starting the cycle over again.
Abiotic and biotic factors:
1. Trout uses water to breath
2. Algae uses a rock to grow on
3. Cardinals eat marsh willow herb to survive
4. A blue flag iris uses soil to obtain nutrients
5. Cardinal flowers use the sun for photosynthesis
Predator/prey relationship
Amazon River Dolphin eats:Fish
River Otter eats: They eat crawfish, Frogs, Crabs, invertebrate fish, and etc.
American alligator eats: Fish, turtles, snakes, and birds, it will eat anything in the water once it reaches adulthood.
